Matchday 9 of the MTN Elite One championship has been postponed. The Transitional Council for Professional Football (CTFP) made this decision on March 2nd, due to the training camp for the local Indomitable Lions, scheduled from March 6th to 11th.
This decision directly impacts the MTN Elite One schedule. Blaise Mbida, president of the CTFP, stated that the matches originally scheduled between March 6th and 11th are therefore postponed to a later date.
This postponement is motivated by the call-up of local players for a preparatory training camp in preparation for the FIFA Series in March. The absence of these key players would have affected several clubs, depriving them of part of their squads. The CTFP has thus favored sporting fairness by postponing the matches concerned.
According to the official press release signed by Blaise Mbida, the Matchday 9 games are rescheduled for March 14th and 15th, 2026. This rescheduling will allow clubs to recover their international players and play the matches in optimal conditions.
This situation highlights the challenges of calendar management in a context where national competitions must adapt to the requirements of national teams.
