The dismissal of Josiane Golonga Haranga, Miss Cameroon 2025, by the Miss Cameroon Organizing Committee (COMICA) continues to spark strong reactions. Cameroonian influencer Steeve Fah has expressed his outrage at the decision and has launched an appeal to the First Lady, Chantal Biya, to intervene to preserve Cameroon's image.
Elected Miss Cameroon in July 2025, Josiane Golonga Haranga was dismissed on February 25, 2026 by COMICA, which accuses her of serious breaches of her contractual obligations. The grievances include unjustified absence from several important official events, disrespectful remarks and attitudes towards the institution and its members, unilateral termination of her activities as Miss Cameroon, and the use of a personal manager in violation of the clauses of her contract. COMICA claims to have sent several requests for explanations and formal notices to Josiane Golonga, which have gone unanswered. As a result, the committee decided to transfer the crown to the first runner-up, Audrey Moutongo.
Steeve Fah, known for his stances on social issues, shared his reaction on social media. He deplores the lack of support for Josiane Golonga and stresses that the dismissal of a Miss Cameroon affects not only a title, but also the country's image. He questions the perception of Cameroonian women and calls for valuing intelligence, integrity and dignity rather than appearances.
"I OBSERVE. I AM SILENT. BUT I DO NOT ACCEPT," he wrote, before adding: "When a Miss falls, it is not only a title that falters. It is a national symbol. It is the representation of Cameroonian beauty. It is a showcase for the country". He also criticizes the lack of reaction from former Misses and the government to this situation.
In his message, Steeve Fah directly appeals to the First Lady, Chantal Biya, asking her to intervene with COMICA so as not to tarnish the image of Cameroonian women. He insists on the need to dissociate Cameroonian beauty from stereotypes linked to luxury hotels and skin lightening practices, and to associate it instead with values such as dignity, education and excellence.
This case comes in a context where COMICA had already threatened Josiane Golonga with dismissal in February 2026, accusing her of contractual breaches. The committee had notably mentioned a delay to an official meeting at the Turkish embassy, the refusal to participate in an event organized by Canal 2 International, and the Miss's desire to hire a personal manager. Josiane Golonga, for her part, was claiming salary arrears and a company car. The first runner-up, Orphée Dinangue, will act as interim until the next election.
COMICA announced in November 2025 that Cameroon would not participate in Miss Universe 2025, citing a desire to strengthen the preparation of future candidates to international standards. The decision to dismiss Josiane Golonga comes a few months after this announcement and raises questions about the management of the Miss Cameroon competition.
The dismissal of Miss Cameroon 2025 highlights the stakes and pressures surrounding this title, as well as the expectations of Cameroonian society in terms of women's representation. Steeve Fah's reaction testifies to the importance given to the image of Cameroonian women and the need to promote positive values through this competition.
