A violent altercation over salary disputes broke out at Dadjamka High School in Cameroon's Far North region between a supervisor and a substitute physical education teacher. The dispute escalated into a fight during which the supervisor allegedly bit off part of his colleague's nose.
The scene, which took place on school grounds, caused a stir in the community. According to Lebledparle.com, the physical education teacher, Abdelaziz Gomsia, had been absent for several days to supervise students at the FENASCO games.
Upon his return, he allegedly learned that only one of his two months' outstanding salary had been released. The supervisor, Djawe Daniel, allegedly presented him with the sum of 25,000 FCFA. Suspicions of withholding funds then exacerbated tensions between the two men, leading to the physical confrontation.
During the fight, the supervisor Djawe Daniel, finding himself in difficulty, allegedly bit Abdelaziz Gomsia in the face, tearing off part of his nose. The injured teacher was rushed to hospital for treatment. He is currently undergoing medical treatment to prevent any health complications related to the bite.
The exact circumstances of the assault are still being determined. This incident highlights the tensions that can exist in schools, exacerbated by salary problems. Similar situations of violence involving teachers and students or other staff members have been reported, highlighting the need to strengthen security and dialogue in schools.
